T.E. Blankenship About the Artist

Noted landscape artist T.E. Blankenship’s paintings feature landscapes including American shorelines, mountains and canyons. Special features include popular golf courses. T.E. Blankenship recently unveiled a commissioned piece portraying the Whittier Peninsula in Columbus, Ohio.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, Tom’s artistic journey began by accident when, as a 9-year-old boy, his parents would take him to a tavern on a river in his hometown of Gahanna, Ohio. He was mesmerized by the paintings that were hanging all around the bar. These paintings were created by one of the most renowned artists of his time, Emerson Burkart. This experience would later shape Tom’s path into the world of artistic creation.

Tom’s professional career started in high school, when he sold the third piece he’d created. He later attended the Columbus College of Art and Design to further his study of art and refine the technique that allows him to capture the beauty and spirit of the world’s landscapes.

He has been described as the preeminent golf course artist in Central Ohio and the Grand Strand of the Carolinas.

“I seem to be drawn to the edge … where land meets sea or where forest meets field and stream. I enjoy capturing the interaction and spirit of these diverse elements of the landscape in my paintings,” says Blankenship.

Tom considers himself a landscape illusionist, not a photo realist. He tries to infuse as much depth and nature light as possible in his work while maintaining spirit of place.

Tom’s paintings are featured in collections all over the world.
